About QR code decoding

Drop in a QR code image and scan it right away, or point your camera at a code for live recognition — everything runs locally in your browser, so neither images nor camera video are ever uploaded, and even screenshots containing passwords are safe to decode. Inverted codes (light modules on a dark background) work too, and oversized images are automatically optimized before decoding, which is faster without hurting recognition.

Whatever is inside gets organized for you: WiFi codes are split into network name and WiFi password, while links, email, phone numbers, SMS, geo locations, contact cards and calendar events show up as clean, readable fields instead of a raw string. Payment and friend-request codes from WeChat or Alipay are encrypted by design, so you'll see their original text — that's expected, not a decoding failure.

What this tool does

  • Custom appearance

Tune foreground and background colors, size, margin and error correction, overlay a logo at the center, and export PNG or SVG.

  • Structured decoding

WiFi, URLs, email, phone, SMS, geo, contact cards and calendar events are parsed automatically — extract and copy a WiFi password in one click.

  • Nothing leaves your device

Generation and decoding run locally in your browser. Images, passwords and text are never uploaded anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

Why won't my image decode?

In order of likelihood: the screenshot must include the whole code plus its white margin (quiet zone); avoid blur and glare; and make sure it is actually a QR code — barcodes and Data Matrix codes are different symbologies this tool does not read.

What's inside a WiFi QR code?

A text string like WIFI:T:WPA;S:NetworkName;P:Password;; — phones join the network directly when you scan it. This tool splits it into readable fields, with the password masked until you reveal or copy it.

Can it read WeChat or Alipay codes?

It decodes them, but payment and friend-request codes are encrypted token strings, so you'll see the raw text. Link-based codes show their content normally.

Can I scan with my camera?

Yes. Tap "Scan with camera", grant permission, and point it at a code — recognition is automatic, using the rear camera on phones by default. Video is analyzed locally in real time and never recorded or uploaded; the camera turns off as soon as a code is read or you press stop.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. Everything happens inside your browser's sandbox — no network request is made, so screenshots containing passwords are safe to decode here.
